Solutions for greater employee engagement.
Formed in 1827, Hamburger Sparkasse has been the market leader for the citizens of Hamburg ever since and is now Germany’s largest savings bank. With over 100 branches, around 5,000 employees and 250 trainees, Hamburger Sparkasse—or ‘Haspa’ for short—is also one of the city’s largest employers.
In 2013, rapidly increasing use of the bank’s intranet combined with a growing quantity of content meant that the Haspa needed to set up a new portal for its internal network. The design brief prioritized the optimum presentation of key content, which should be clearly structured to match user requirements. Monday Consulting was commissioned with this project, signalling the start of a long-standing partnership between the two companies.
That initial intranet commission has developed into an ongoing and mutually beneficial business relationship. Today, Monday Consulting is the trusted and flexible partner who provides the Sparkasse with invaluable CoreMedia expertise. The software developer’s remit has now also expanded to include implementation, maintenance, design and technical consulting services.
New requirements are defined from a business perspective by Hamburger Sparkasse before then being ‘translated’ for technical implementation by Monday Consulting.
The continued development of the intranet service into a dialog platform is the main task entrusted to Monday Consulting. One example is the new notice board to facilitate internal communication between employees, which has rapidly turned into a regularly used service. Built-in comment functionality gives employees the opportunity to add their own details and insights from day-to-day practice to the posts and information published by the various company departments. This not only enhances the feeling of solidarity within the company but also strengthens employee loyalty. To ensure optimum management of this user-generated content, Monday Consulting designed a backend service as a generic data store, which is used as a repository for the various formats, linking these to the CoreMedia content management system. As a result, this content is always presented in an ideal format for the various topics.
A customer extranet plus optimizations to search functionality are just two of the other projects that have made the Haspa’s system more powerful. The latter has also involved the replacement of the former rudimentary search options with the full-text search developed by Monday Consulting. Content held inside documents in various formats (such as PDF) can now also be searched through.
Monday Consulting is also responsible for system maintenance and support services for the three release upgrades completed to date.
